So recently work has been stressful and I have been getting terrible headaches. They usually come on at night time/late afternoon and I get scared I'm gonna have a stroke going to doctors tomorrow as blood pressure high but it is really making me feel terrible.
What can I do!?! Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I suffer with headaches caused by work too, I have found cocodamol help with the headaches. My gp has also advised I have a lot of tension in my neck, so had a massage recently which was nice

Hi!
I just read this it might help dunno since your saying about the high blood pressure.
"Deep belly breathing, whether in a yoga class, at the office, or on your couch, is helpful in interrupting irrational thoughts. If you frequently experience toxic worry, try carrying a balloon in your pocket. Blowing up a balloon forces you to take long, slow breaths from the diaphragm, which slows down your heart rate, lowers blood pressure, and helps your body use oxygen more efficiently, having a calming effect."
Hi Ollie
I suffer with headaches but even worse I get migraines which I get the aura as well as what is more than any headache after which unless you suffer can be hard to describe what that feels like & they can last 3 days ,even though I think the migraines are more hormone related , I understand your fear as the same thought has crossed my mind
I also had high blood pressure but when it was high I never had any headaches , it is now under control with meds & I get migraines , so maybe again it could be the anxiety making the headaches worse rather than your blood pressure but hopefully once you have been to the GP tomorrow they will be able to put your mind at rest
Things like co-codomol & other painkillers don't really help with tension headaches in fact you have to be careful how often & how many painkillers you take as to many can cause rebound headaches which I found was happening to me at one stage
Tell the doctor you fears & I hope you will feel reassured after your appointment
The headaches appear in bursts and usually around my temples, above ears, and sides of my head. I get a bit of a throbbing and feel pressure (hence tension headaches). Went to opticians and they said there wasn't an issue they could see so will see what doctor says.
Just very difficult not to concentrate on and it's keeping me awake even though I am so tired
I had my first migraine when I was only about 14 , it was very frightening as like I said I get the aura first & back then I remember screaming the house down thinking I was going blind !
Then I didn't have any more till I was about 16 & just had a couple till I was 18 & then I would have about 3 a year which I could cope with & saw as normal
In between I suffered with a lot of tension headaches which can be quite bad but you do know the difference if it's migraines or tension headache which you are getting as there is quite a difference & the pain is so much more severe with a migraine
But then when I reached about 46 I started going in the menopause & wham every month without fail a migraine would appear this went on for 4 years , now I seem to be getting them every 6 to 8 weeks & have read this can be common in women going through the menopause but hopefully once you get through it they will stop & according to my GP I could have another 4 years before I do , which the thought of that doesn't make me feel very good , I may be calm at the moment but one could be due in the next couple of weeks & when it starts than I do get anxious even though I have been putting up with them all this time , still I struggle with the fear
They do say some things you eat can trigger them , like chocolate , coffee , cheese to name a few , I have took note & cant say I feel anything I eat has made mine more or less but it is worth observing when you get them what you have been eating & then trying to avoid it to see if it makes a difference
I know it sounds nothing as such & can be hard to remember to do , especially in the Winter , easier in the Summer but drinking plenty of water really does help with any kind of headache , I find though it is better if you do it as part of your daily routine rather than waiting till you have a headache
I don't know if this has helped any but hopefully you will or will be going to the GP soon & she will have reassured you , let us know how you got on
Hi, I used to get them too I use Adcodol they work like a bomb especially for tention headaches... ive been there try it it helps
I am understand your pain. I have suffered with a terrible headache everyday for two weeks . I thought is was allergies and treated for that. However, I think it is my tmj. I catch myself clenching and grinding during the day without my night guard. My dentist yesterday took my blood pressure, it was fine. She thought that yes, maybe it was my tmj. She suggested Motrin or nature things. I did not get the Motrin but asked my health food store. They suggested valerian root and tumeric. I had both of those. They are anti inflammatory and muscle relaxers I think... Still not well but I pray it gets better
So what I am saying is maybe you have a similar situation.
