St Johns Wort. Take or not?

I'm considering taking SJW, I'm trying to avoid Citalopram. I'd be very interested on peoples thoughts on taking SJW?

How have you found it?

Does it work?

Any side affects?

Thanks

It made me very itchy so I stopped taking before I could notice any benefit. Two weeks. Why are you avoiding citalopram? Best wishes

Hey Boozybird

I tried SJW and it also made me itchy?

I'd rather avoid "chemicals" unless really needed xxx

Hi I wont go on and on about my thoughts about anti depressants...but the bin or toilet basin is the only place for them...I have tried KIRA SJW from Boots for past two year on and off.You can take more than one a day and I believe they work.If you research it you will discover SJW is prescription only in Germany.....I wonder why they wont prescribe it here...my guess is that it works but if they prescribed it then all of the big pharmaceutical companies and government would lose big revenue so they continue prescribing us useless meds with so many side effects...the reason you take ad's in first place is outweighed by them....I take SJW and Rhodiola Rosea by Virvidian. Remember buy the best make you can afford and highest strength. As herbal remedies aren't regulated you're safer that way....you wont regret it.take care.

hi my doctor told me to try st johns wort, we can get it here in (IRELAND) with a perscription,I took one ,my tummy felt a bit upset,so I didn't take any more,I also like 5htp,I would advise buying a good brand, and start low and increase to where you feel comfortable,if your taking other meds, you would need to ask your dr about interactons,I dont take a/ds they make me more anxious,KIRA st johns wort is suposed to be the best, good luck in whatever you decide to do.xx
