Another blog I have not shared on here yet... 'Feel the fear and do it anyway'. Pushing our boundaries, feeling the fear but finding a way to work through this and not letting it stop us from doing things time and time again.

Feel the fear and do it anyway...

Hi Missmarie,
Thank you for sharing that. You seem to be doing well on your road to happiness, good for you Long may it continue.
I think we do need to push ourselves at times, however I am a great believer in balance, push yourself one day, be kind to yourself the next. And I'm afraid, after all this time, there are still some things you would never get me to do lol.
But you did remind me of a conversation I had with my daughter. She would call herself a coward/wimp etc. because she was scared to do something. I tried to explain, to do something when you're not afraid is easy, to do it when it terrifies you, that is being brave.
Wishing you well

I've delved into that book before. I tend to think that you should not allow anxiety to stop you from doing the things you normally do. when I was at a very low ebb some years ago I still kept going to social and other support groups as much as I could, even if I came home not feeling great or with the feeling of not having "connected" with anyone. I said to myself that at least I tried and felt good that I had at least made the effort. Eventually it pays off. However I do also believe in balance and one should not force or overdo something as that can be detrimental. Those with an anxiety about certain places that they will avoid going to is a real fear, but I believe that book is especially for those people.
Which book are you referring to? People keep talking to me about 'books' but these are my own blogs based on my own experiences. I would love to read these books though. Absolutely right with balance. when I first majorly suffered from depression and anxiety I didn't realise how bad it was because I didn't stop, I kept on going and going like you say keeping up with social situations etc and that's a bad thing because it meant I wasn't dealing with what was actually happening and it was getting worse. My blogs go in an order, and in my blogs before I have talked about taking one step at a time, and being patient, which is complete opposite to what I have said in feel the fear and do it anyway. Basically the blogs follow my development so It is very much all about where you are at as an individual and eventually you will be at the right stage to 'feel the fear and do it anyway' and it will be what you actually have to do to develop and take that next step.
Sorry I thought you were talking about the book of the same name. If you go here, this is the book I was talking about:
