im on venafaxine (1x 75, 1x 175 ) and it helped until recently. im thinking maybe a medication made more for anxiety might help as venafaxine is mainly for depression. any ideas?

Hi jsp

I dont think I have spoken to you yet , so just incase I will say Welcome :)

I dont take meds , so I cant come up with some wonderful advise on this , but someone might later

How ever , if you feel you are not happy with what you are taking , I would go & see my GP & explain exactly what you have said in your post , I am sure if they felt you would be better or you are not happy with what you are taking , they should offer you an alternative

Let us no how you go on

Diazepam if used for treating anxiety but is on prescription only and will only be prescribed short term. I would speak to your GP

A Benzodiazepine such as Diapzepam (Valium) will relieve you from anxiety but they are highly addictive and should only be taken short - term. I take Mirtazapine currently. This is an anti-depressant but it does have anti-anxiety properties too and will also help with sleep, especially for the first few weeks of taking it. I've found it helpful but like most anti-depressants what works for one person may not be effective for someone else. You could mention it to your GP and see what he/she thinks. Good luck.
