LM have you got any relaxation CDs and a set of ear phones? I do this every night when I go to bed, or during day if cant relax. Also a bath and bubbles with nice soft music, bath makes the muscles relax.

I may try that later bonnie, i have nature sounds on my playbook xxx

I find distraction for me really works, I'm starting to get a very clean house and a tidy garden! I also try and find some one to talk to and I really try to concentrate on what they are saying. I find it very hard work to relax at the moment I'm using a relaxation cd that I was given, it has a short relaxation and a long one. I am trying to master the short version sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I do hope you find something that works for you xxxx

Hia,

My son has severe ADHD and a other issues 1 being severe anxiety, what I used to do with him was, we would lay down on the bed and both look up at the ceiling, the ceiling is artexed, we would start from 1 corner and pretend we were ants, the artex would sand dunes, and we would walk from 1 corner to the opposite corner, over the dunes, obviously my son is a child and it was before bed, but it is quite relaxing, even though you're concentrating hard, it does take your mind away from the anxiety, I myself have severe panic attacks brought on by me being anxious, nothing works for me, sorry to be so negative I just have to let it run its course, when they do get very severe, I go to A and E and a nebulisa helps me, sorry cant be more help, I think its just a case of how severe these attacks are and how strong willed you are.

I hope this helps in some way

Hello London-man, how are you feeling today? Have you been out? I was writing you a message last night about some techniques I use but the battery went. :-(

Hope you are feeling less anxious now.

I'll tell you what I do as they may help in the future.

I like to keep busy all day so I don't think, I'm always finding things to potter about with like throwing things out, de-cluttering helps makes me feel lighter (probably a bit weird) but to relax I either read a book, something that I can get my head into not something where you have to really work to get the story going. Just something lighthearted.

I watch a film I enjoy something that I can zone into that will make me concentrate on it.

I come on here that's helped me in the last few days to concentrate on what other people are saying and if I can help them in anyway.

Talking to people helps.

Such a simple thing but when I'm in bed and can't sleep I try doing the alphabet backwards and keep repeating if I go wrong. I fall asleep before I can complete it. lol.

Hope some of that helps.

What is that you do at the moment to help you relax?

xx
