Medication pls advise

I am living in the Middle East why support and access to mental health support is close to zero! They just don’t believe it in here....they will run through endless batteries of invasive testing to get money and never acknowledge anxiety/depression as illnesses.

So my question is this.....could you pls tell me if any med or meds combinations have been successful. I totally understand that it’s person to person reliant! But I’m totally on my own here and going to have to come up with some suggestions on my own and then attempt to get them prescribed. I have tried 10mg cipralex which appeared to work - so well in fact I came off them after 5 mths quickly became riddled with 24 hr anxiety but when I tried them a second time stayed with it 4 months it didn’t work at all?

I was able to get 0.25mg xanax for absolute emergencies when I returned 8 months later to refill the 5 tablet prescription they were so rude about refilling ANOTHER prescription. Pls help me - I’m totally alone with no hope.

There is an over the counter supplement called GABA I don't know if you can get it there or not but it can help with anxiety and calm your brain down. good luck I hope you feel better soon.

But you do and you can be sure others feel the same even if they are saying little. The ancient world knew very well about all these things and so do every doctor in the Middle East. As to accessing one is something else. Valium can help, beta blockers. I would find a female doctor and say it is 'ladies' things and they might be able to pass you on to someone. Otherwise set up a group of your own using a site like this. Getting anyone who is coming towards USA or UK to bring back books by Claire Weekes, or DARE look at them on Utube first or just follow their interviews it has all you need. Then those who need you are to be sure to find you.

Hi, yes I’m seeing a therapist for the last year but we are always on damage control because of the sky high anxiety. I think if I could bring that down enough to eat, sleep and function normally we would be able to make much greater progress in therapy. I was always against medicating myself but I think I’ve got to start being realistic about how much of a toll this has taken on me and I think medication for a while (if I can find one to help) would make my life much more bearable.

Gale, please connect with a local doctor regarding medications....it is a bad idea to self medicate using online advice from strangers like us. I am well familiar with several Middle East countries and know that there are many doctors who are well versed in mental health care. Do you feel safe sharing your county and city?

I have absolutely no intention of self medicating, would never dream of doing that. I would like to approach my doctor with some suggestions as they haven’t been able to come up with any other than cipralex as I explained. It will be purely be at my doctors discretion of course if she feels any suggestions I make are appropriate.

Darryl I would so love to hear about your experience of doctors in the Middle East well versed on mental health as I haven’t been able to find a single one!

I’ve worked with doctors from Jordan, Egypt, Israel, both in and out of country and with doctors from other countries in the region whom I met during conferences. What city are you in? What is the difficulty you are having in locating a doctor to work with?
