I know there is something wrong in my head and that something is working harder than it should be, or not enough. I cannot communicate very well I can feel I am like a broken computer that needs fixing but, it's not a simple solution. So what I would like to know is out of all the medications I have been on 'I will describe them later' is there any medications that work on a certain part of the brain that I have not been on? Or have I tried all that Is available. I really hope there are areas in the brain that can still be put right? So, I am on quetiapine 'antipsychotic' which works on 'dopamine' I am on fluoxetine 'ssri' which works on 'serotonin' and I am on pregabalin 'Anticonvulsant' which works on 'glutamate' I have also been on matazipine.

Hi Newb I don't think anyone but a trained medical person should be giving out any advice like that. I have never heard of dopamine etc. but I do know that antidepressants work on increasing the serotonim levels in the brain to increase the feeling of well being. I do know meds aren't a precise subject and its often trial and error what works for you.

Hi newb - and sorry for the delay in replying. :(

I think you're being a bit simplistic likening your brain to a computer. Yes, a computer can do amazing things - perform maths calculations much faster than the human brain, for instance - BUT - it has no emotions, no hopes, no wishes, no aspirations. It can't fall in love, believe in something, nurse a baby, laugh, cry etc etc.

We humans have messy things called "emotions" which are complicated and can't be switched on and off - like a computer. Yes, hypercat is right about serotonin, but I personally think that how we feel is far more complicated than that, and is tied up with relationships, childhood, people in our lives, how we feel about ourselves, and so on.

You're not a computer, love, you're a human being!
