Meditation, hypnotherapy, yoga, deep breathing, relaxation cd's , acupuncture, massage and Bach sleep rescue remedy. All natural and may be of help to you. Plus I go for a long walk first thing in the morning before work. Lets your good endorphins flow.

Hi Jeffju

I liked your reply and advice to Michael. I use some of these techniques to help me deal with my stress and anxiety. My stress and anxiety is only present in the part of my life that is a Carer to my 33 year old son who has schizophrenia. He doesn't live with me - his life is too chaotic for the household to cope with. I know my son didn't choose to be like this and I find it extremely difficult to understand him. He does have a mental health social worker who he can see (if he wants to) and obviously the whole team of psychiatrists and professional staff on the psychiatric wards if he relapses. He has refused to take his anti-psychotic medication since January. No-one can force him to have it if he doesn't want it - unless he is sectioned again.

Obviously I worry about him (especially if he won't answer my phone calls or text messages) - and I use several techniques to get me through the worry.

Very soon I will be going to some meditation/spiritual meetings at a Christian fellowship close to where I live. Its not held in a church, because some people can find going to church too intimidating - it is held in an ex shop unit in the shopping precinct.

I hope to find some inner peace and calmness there.

If you have any other techniques to offer please let me know.

Kind Regards - Sue

Try to think logically.

If someone else was feeling what you are going through, what would you say or do to help them. Then try to use it on yourself.

It's JUST unhelpful thinking.

Your thinking mind can't rule your brain and bodys natural movements.

As in, if you feel as though your throat is swelling up, it's JUST a thought and that thought cant get your brain to make it happen. So your thought can NOT kill you.

Thats the main two i follow especially the 'it can't kill me' statement and i don't take any medication.

very very good advice, it can work doing this, though I do need to take medication.

I also use 'it can't kill me' and 'You will still be here tomorrow' statements to get through.any anxiety.

Dr Claire Weekes treatment plan, found in her books, and cd's.

There old, but I've found its the best thing I've seen so far, and it works.

Exercise, activity, explaining to someone else how you feel, much much harder than you would think, but it can help. A certain amount of acceptance that "simple" things can be harder, that its tiring and something thats small to someone else is big, and a big achievement. Exercise again!
