Dealing with a lot

I have been dealing with a lot over the last year or so. So much has happened and I feel like I am kind of broken now.

My dad got sick and died last April. He was my main support system. I have had to deal with an unsupportive spouse, a new manager that treats me terribly and other family issues. I feel like there is nothing positive in my life right now.

Hi,

There is certainly a lot going on for you right now making your life hard. Losing your dad and no. 1 supporter is something I can relate to in the last 12 months.

If you can, notice what you say to yourself and work on more helpful, calming and encouraging self-talk, such as, “This is a rough period but it will pass”, “I will use this time to look after myself”. Looking after yourself may mean checking in with the HR Dept in your workplace.

When I was struggling with workplace issues, I called the human resources team and was able to access the employee assistance program (EAP) which was very helpful. I found the EAP to be a free, voluntary, confidential, short-term, solution focused counselling service paid by the employer. The EAP helped me with problems that eventually affected my job performance and personal wellbeing. No topic is off limits.

I have asked several people about how to deal with a micromanager. I have given an explanation of what has been going on basically since I started working there. I had someone tell me that I am being gaslighted.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your dad, especially someone who meant so much to you🥺and sounds like you had a strong bond. That’s so difficult feeling like no one supports you, I would be so upset too to say the least. I remember having a tough manager years ago who made my life a living hell. I felt depressed/suicidal. My only regret was not leaving sooner and not believing I could find a better job (I stayed for two years praying they’d keep me and eventually got fired). It sounds like the relationships in your life are all difficult and coming all at once😔do you think you’d be able to find a new job, then put in a two week notice? 🌸whoever this is doesn’t want to see you grow and makes the environment hostile. It’s not fair to you and affects employees seriously
