Sorry I've been out of the loop for a little while. Just got up to 30mg/day on Tranylcypromine (Parnate), an MAOI. Having what seems like some motor-function issues, along with a lot of dizziness and light-headedness after reaching the 30mg dosage mark. I know the daily dose goes all the way up to 60mg, but I don't see myself getting there, based on these symptoms. Thinking about splitting up the dosage so it isn't concentrated, all at once. Any thoughts from someone who had or is taking it?
Thanks,
-B

so strange. I replied a couple days ago and I'm not seeing it! Definitely break up the doses. I took two 10mg at the same time last week and felt horrible. Better taking morning and noon. Have been experiencing nausea. Keep thinking I'm getting the flu. Blood pressure changes when standing, so delaying going up to 30mg for a few more weeks. Keep me posted.
Wow, I wonder why your response didn't show up right away? Strange. Thank you for responding! It sounds like we're both in the same general part of our experience with this med - have you just recently gone onto it? I really don't like all the dietary and medication restrictions that come along with it, but I'm also desperate, so there's that.
I tried spacing out the dosage (30mg/day) and I think I am having better results because of it. The light-headedness is still present, but much less pronounced. That first day I took all three at once, my mom told me I sounded drunk, and that I was slurring my words. My motor skills were all jacked up. Had to lay down and rest, and then it passed.
Hoping the very best for you (and me, haha) as we continue to stay the course in hopes of mental improvement!
