I take 30mg mirtazapine (Remeron) per night. I took 15 mg on top of my nightly dose last night. Am wondering whether I should taper it off to avoid withdrawal symptoms. Someone please advise

Hi by only having one 45mg won`t need tapering off but if you mean tapering off 30mg do it over a good few weeks at 15mg then 7/1/2mg then quit it will stand you more chance of success.

Thank you very much indeed. I was panicking as I am already struggling with withdrawal syndrome after stopping clonazepam cold turkey

No you don't need to. Just go back to your regular dosage. Or if you're concerned break a pill in half and take that for one night. You won't experience any withdrawals if you only went up on Remeron for one day. You'll be fine!

you can return to previous dose without problems. Im a physician, withdrawals symptons only develop with large time of a dose.

You should be asking your physician all these questions. People react differently to these medications. Good luck

Hey don't worry pay Attention closely to how u feel, resume your regular dose after your time has elapsed from your last regular dose. This is a mood enhancer abs should not be taken with alcohol or any other med that may cause contraindications with it. Try not to compound your depression or anxiety with worry about this, and of course consult your doctor or nurse if you feel it having an issue with his u feel. Most clinicians week tell u to discontinue use until your next prescribed dose and you'll be fine. Hope this helps, cheers.

The half life is 20-40 hours so you should be fine as others have indicated.

Glad you’re ok. Wouldn’t worry too much cause most likely it would’ve showed an increase of side effects you already deal with from that med. but should be out your system within 24 hours. Anytime, call your local pharmacy and ask for a pharmacist. They tend to be really helpful and nice about stuff like that. 🙏🏻
