Paroxetine withdraw

I am new to this. I have being taking paroxetine 30mg for a long over 20 years for anxiety and panic which was working really well but around two years ago I started getting it back then it would go and come back every know and again it would come all the doctor suggested was to up my medication which I didn’t do. Then a few months ago it got worse and has not gone kept getting hot and sweaty in the mornings especially. Been seeing a councillor which has helped but over the last two months the symptoms got worse. The doctor has now got me to come down on the tablets to go into something else. Four weeks ago started taking 30mg one day and 20 mg the next. Just over a week ago just 20 mg a day it is very hard making me quite tearfully and depressed along with the anxiety and panic. Some days don’t know what to do. My counsellor is going away for two weeks so going to have to try without support Doctor will want me to go on 10mg next week. Has anyone else come dow this quick after so long into new tablets and how did they manage

Hi Jwell53, have you discussed with your doctor how you are feeling?

I'm not sure about the particular medication you are mentioning but I wonder is your anxiety and panic increasing as you are aware the doc is reducing medication. If you don't think this is the case, then I would speak to doc so he knows of your side effects. As a fellow sufferer of anxiety I know that with the slightest thing I can get quite bad sometimes so if the doc says you are ok then bare with it as he/she would k ow what they are doing and why. If I find my anxiety gets particularly bad I sing or tell myself a story as my mind is distracted and I control breathing easier . Is there anyone close to confide in ?

I was on paxil for about 20 years too!! I just stopped taking it two years ago in October . The aprn that was treating me tapered it down and I remember going down to 10mg the last week. I also remember feeling tired.

How quickly did you taper down I was on 30 mg and now after 6weeks I am on 10mg. The last 4 days I felt great but this morning woke at 5.30 feeling terrible in 2weeks the doctor wants me to stops taking the 10mg and go straight onto 25mg sertraline which I am very nervous about

Dont be nervous about it. My doctor did the same. It will be ok. I really like sertraline.

What was the transfer from paroxetine to sertraline like? Did it give you any bad symptoms?
