Hello artist-at-heart! I'm one, too! I see the world through an artist's eye, do you?

Being depressed is the same as being alone. Because depression makes you feel all alone. That's part of it's ugliness...the way it isolates you. You have to fight back just like you did and reach out to other people...just like you did. Job well done!!

How does the artist in you get out? What do you do that's artistic? I just signed up for watercolor classes but--get this--I bring to the 1st class anything but oils. That means paper, metal, string, brushes, canvas, everything I can put my hands on without going to a store! Sounds very good to me, how about you? And this place is right near me on the beach! How did I miss knowing this until now? What place are you missing knowing about that's near you? Maybe you could put out some feelers? Ask around? This would help a lot to lift your depression I would think...what do you think? Even if it was just temporarily until you got in to see a doctor and get started on some drugs.

Which brings me to my next suggestion. Have you seen a doctor lately? Had a check up? You may need to go and have hypothyroidism or a vitamin deficiency ruled out. Also to mention your depression. See what the doctor thinks. Maybe he/she will treat you or refer you to a psychiatrist. You definitely need to tell some doctor and possibly be on a drug to get things rolling so you get better than you are right now. Think about it, will you?

If you continue to feel this way for a few weeks, or if you already have felt this way for a few weeks, then it's time to see a doctor and tell him/her your symptoms. It's time to get some real medical help. I've been where you are and I became clinically depressed and do very well on medication and also counseling. Both are necessary. The psychiatrist does very short med checks and the counselor actually does the talking part and helps with the details of life and coping with illness and life issues. My counselor is my friend now after 17 years! Some people call her "Dr." but she says I should call her by her 1st name. She's so happy to see me. And vice versa. We have a nice time but also take care of business.

Ask me anything, I am happy to help you out if I can. No question is too small or big. You're important to me and I like meeting another person who's artistic, too. So write to me, ok?Take care.

You're very welcome. And if depression looms again and you hesitate to get help, write again to get motivated and lifted up again.
