I can’t describe how happy I am, and how much I humbly suggest the following 4 prong approach to those seeking mental health care, help and support.
1) Try to eat healthy. Research shows that plant based foods can increase your overall mind & body health.
2) Exercise. It has been proven to improve mental and physical wellbeing.
3) Therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can be as effective as medication for depression, anxiety and other mental health issues.
4) Medications. If indicated by your doctor, medication can help reduce anxiety and depression symptoms, and work in conjunction with the other 3 mental & physical health care approaches.
Although everyone is different/unique, I have found the above 4 steps to be effective in helping me overcome my depression, anxiety and other mental health problems (Step 4 - medications may be a challenging choice, as they sometimes involve side effects, while the first 3 have nothing but benefits.)
