Hello everyone. I am brand new here. I am really struggling with severe major depressive disorder and anxiety disorder. I am also a recovering addict and alcoholic. I have been sober almost 17 months now. Being in recovery is going to be lifelong for me. Sobriety is still very new to me. Feeling is very new to me. I have been using something to change the way that I feel for many years now. Since I was eight years old actually and I am 42 now. Life is so crazy hard as it is and seems to be challenging to even enjoy these days. I am determined to stay away from drugs and alcohol but it can certainly be difficult when they did such a great job of numbing me pretty much my entire life. I hope things will get better for me now that I found this group. Thanks for having me.

Welcome to the community.
Congratulations on your 17 months of sobriety. I wish you continued success.
The alcohol did help cover up pain but there are so many other ways to do this. I hope you can fill your toll box full with new coping skills

Cheers for making a year and a half! I'm glad you found this site. I admire you a lot for your courage. A recovering friend of mine was asked if he was afraid of hell. My friend answered, "Hell? No... I've been there already". 🥰
