I recently did a handover in front of 8 staff members, and during it, I noticed my hands shaking while scrolling on the laptop. It was clear that I was experiencing tremors due to anxiety. In the moment, I decided to acknowledge it by briefly mentioning to the group that I was feeling a bit anxious.
Though it was difficult, I managed to push through and complete the handover successfully. While I was relieved afterward, I realized that constantly acknowledging my anxiety might not be the best long-term approach.
I’ve been thinking about how to handle these situations going forward, without always needing to draw attention to my nervousness. I plan to practice some techniques like grounding, deep breathing, and focusing more on the task at hand rather than on my anxiety.
I’m sharing this experience because I know many of us deal with similar feelings. If anyone has any techniques or strategies that help you manage anxiety, especially in situations like handovers, I’d love to hear them!
