Well another day of losing my Gregory Pecs , yes my glasses, so frustrating hunting around wasting time, after a marathon mission and totally fed up, I gave up, decided to make a cuppa and think where I've misplaced them, so plonked myself down on the comfy chair and you know that horrible feeling you can feel a bit of metal underneath you, yes the glasses are on the Chair, lenses popped out, frames buckled and the thought of trying to fix them sends shivers down your back, so disappointed it's not the first time either, I was worn out looking for them and then the thankless task of trying to fix them, a bit like being like uri geller bending spoons π€£ and then comes the hardest part getting the lenses back into the frame without a spare set to see what your doing, fingers like butchers sausages, and then joy ,success, that delightful noise of a click, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's done this!!! π€ͺ

OH Cb1963........shouldn't laugh should we, but i did.π, although i have reading glasses from the optician, i still buy copious amounts from the Pound Shop, and i must have 20 pairs around the place and still i often struggle to find them.π
Hahaha π.. sorry I shouldn't laugh but it's the way you had written your post and descriptive to a tee π€£π€£π€£
I've definitely done this CB. I'm right in the middle of my eyes changing as you get little older. At work I'm struggling to see the emails, so they made things appear bigger for me now. I'm taking extra computer classes to get myself faster on the computer. I feel so old and outta the loop as far as computer science is concerned....It sucks. I'm scared I'm going to lose my job because I'm so slow. π I hope and pray I'll get faster but it's true you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I mean I know what I know and trying so hard to improve on getting the systems down pat. Practice makes perfect so they say so I'm bringing my computer home on weekends to practice and improve my skills.
Thank you for your post, and for making what must have been frustrating for you sound so amusing!!! I loved your cockney rhyming slang!
As someone who always has wire rimmed specs, I fully agree! At my last appointment I chose to have varifocals, so there's less temptation to take 'em off! I still forget sometimes, but usually it's because they are still on the bedside table!
Cheers, Midori
You're funny! I like the way you write! Glad you found your Gregory Pecs!
Thanks and I love you username, I had a quick look at your bio, and I'm really sorry things aren't great at the moment, yes I know things are difficult in the USA, and no matter what you do you struggle to keep your head afloat, I can only offer you my deepest sympathy regarding your own personal journey in life, if you want to chat or stay in touch I'm a good listenerand try and keep different conversations away from things that may depress you, so once again thanks for your reply β€οΈ π
Thanks CB. My situation has dramatically improved. I bought a Toyota Highlander for one thing ( so I will never be homeless again) and the man who is taking care of my cat has invited me to stay in a spare room he has in his house until I can get on my feet!!! I am with my cat now! And a bed, bedroom, my own bathroom and refrigerator!! It's just something that came out of the blue and I am still kind of in shock! Not sure what I'm going to do but going to join a church nearby to start. This fall going to be hard. Aunt's birthday this month. And Thanksgiving, Christmas...but at least I have some real foundation to get my footing. My mind is even coming back slowly. ( If my aunt were here she'd say, "What mind?!"). So what I have learned in these hellish past 2 yrs is that there really hope even when you are very certain none exists. Thanks for your kind words! ππ
Aw that's great you've got a roof over your head, and especially your fur baby, yes life is one big roller coaster, and each of us has different stories that can affect us mentally physically and of course financially, grab each branch that's offered to you, and as they say you can pass your kindness onto others as life's journey continues, certain chapters in life make reading them difficult to understand where things went wrong, and it's not always your own fault, but I'm glad you've got a ray of sunshine through the dark clouds, onwards and upwards to a better future for you and your cat, blessings be upon you π
broken a few sets over the years and actually looked for my glasses only to discover I had them on all the time.
ide recommend a decent glasses repair kit but you need decent glasses to be able to use them
I've had this story pop up a few times. I always kept a spare poly frame glasses just in case if I got out to exercise and not scratch my reading glasses (I had to replace 4 broken pairs).
My commiserations I know exactly how you feel, looking at books etc, for many years, I have poor eyes, I have a set for my laptop, but all has strings attached to them, trying to watch TV with them, a disaster, squinting hard, my 'normal' glasses also strings attached BUT they can slip off, or sometimes leave them on my big black leather chair arm, slips off the arm and crunch! I have a Boer hat with a string attached to that, especially in bad weather, can get rather mixed upπ Or I knock the glasses when wearing them, one string comes off, swish and hit the ground, fixing the lenses like yourself with a small set of screwdrivers, I have shaky hands at the best of times, yes Cb1963 that satisfying little 'click' get it into placeπ actually my optician left a bit of glue in my 'new glasses' top of right frameπ€« [cost me Β£126 for new lenses in old frameπ] The difference between the one and other, frighteningπ΅
Ouch π¬ that's a costly " experience " I know they're not fixed properly as part of the lense is still sticking out a bit at the top, but at least I can see better and of course read any messages, I absolutely detest wearing glasses, but I think years of angle grinder dust and old age has started to catch up on me , blobs of plaster in my eyes and being attacked twice hasn't helped!
