Feeling a bit confused πŸ˜•

So recently I had a " basic " CT scan done, however I was told I needed a CT scan done with a contrasting dye, I've had the OK on a small growth on my adrenal gland and need to give 24 hours of urine samples, just to make sure everything is working OK, however I've a large growth in my pelvic region and the specialist who I spoke to today said he thinks the general surgeon has already got me booked in for an mri scan, I can't understand why I'm requiring to have this especially after my other scans, the growth is apparently in my pelvic area and its approx 3.7 cm Γ— 4cm x 8 cm I'm unsure if its at the front or at the back I've had back ache for a few months and think it could be a cyst on my back area causing nerve pain, not to worried but starting to question this process, thanks for any advice πŸ˜€

You probably need the most detailed possible scans for the doctors to determine how best to treat this growth. I think it is important that you have all the scans that the doctors want.

Yes I thought after having the 2 different types of ct scans would've shown exactly this thing is, but I suppose it's better having a final scan hopefully and then try and find out what they have planned, thanks for your reply πŸ˜€ πŸ‘

MRI's show a more detailed image of what's going on than a CT scan. Have had many of each. I've got a couple cysts on my kidney and on my pancreas that they're monitoring for a while. Hope everything turns out well for you!!

Yes just been confirmed I'm getting an MRI scan and just for good measure a camera up the bum🫣😬 had a blood test done today, and the surgeon still couldn't make out what this growth is from the previous scans, it was only by sheer chance this growth was picked up, it was first picked up in 2016 and had a brief spell in hospital in May due to a kidney stone, and obviously it's grown considerably and I'm not to worried I suppose otherwise I'd have some sort of symptoms, thanks for your reply πŸ˜€ 😊

Sounds like your doctor is being very thorough! As I said hope all turns out fine. PS- Don't forget to smile for the camera, lol.

It was more me pushing for answers, my doctor didn't even mark urgent when I had the first scan in May, I picked this up through a conversation with the practice manager, I then made enquiries with the hospital's in and around the area asking if I had been put on any waiting lists and they said I hadn't even been listed, and the waiting time for a scan for one that was marked as " routine " was 48 weeks, I then got back in touch with the doctors to rewrite another letter and highlight the urgency, as the previous hospital had already stated what the next process should be, and even I could understand that letter, the doctor were pretty careless in my opinion, and then the receptionist said well everyone has to wait, it wasn't her brightest moment behind the telephone I should say , I'm hoping my bum can say cheese at the camera πŸ€ͺ🀣

Well, so much for me thinking your doctor was being thorough! Helps when some of us have big mouths(as I do) and advocate for ourselves!!! I would have had a few words with that receptionist🀬 I have no patience for people like that and the older I get the less I have (I'm 69). Sooo..will you be able to get your MRI sooner than the 48 weeks? And where are you that you would have to wait that long, are you in the UK?? Here in the US I've never had to wait more than a week or two. One time I went to my doctor with stomach pain and ended up with an MRI a couple hours later. πŸ“·πŸ§€πŸ˜πŸ•(Figured I'd add the pizza with the cheese)

I'm unsure about the waiting time this time around, but I'm unsure, but now im in the system now and obviously seeing the surgeon today I don't think it's going to be that long, based over in Scotland πŸ€—
