So I had a spell in hospital and it wasn't my own area, and had a scan, I've read the report myself and a copy was sent electronically to my own doctor, the report suggested a CT scan with a contrasting dye or an MRI scan, so I spoke to my doctor and he said he'd send a letter to a general surgeon, now, I've spoken to different appointment departments and the system is absolutely bonkers, some can get your files up with your personal registration number and others can't access the so called appointment process, so I've now found out the doctor requested a routine appointment, and I'm not even in the upcoming appointments, try 48 WEEKS!!!! So after another discussion with another health professional she said your doctor should have put on the notes URGENT and this is approximately 10 weeks until the wheels are in motion, I'm absolutely fuming, my thought process was the doctor would send me for another scan, and then have the correct information in front of him, and then have a report ready for the general surgeon, now I feel things are back to front whilst I've got
" things " growing inside me, then what tends to happen they cancel the appointment just a few days before your seen, so a conversation with the doctor who sent the letter out is booked in for tomorrow 😬

I’m afraid that’s the state of after care in the NHS, I’ve also been in hospital for an emergency operation, where I had amazing treatment especially in Intensive care, but since I’ve come home from hospital the care is non existent , I’ve had to ring my Doctor or the hospital to sort everything out myself I was just sent home and left to get on with it. Good luck 👍
Hi CB. I hope you get things sorted out in a more reasonable amount of time. Waiting 48 weeks is a ludicrious amount of time to wait to see any doctor. Wishing you peace as you try to navigate the health system. My bills are coming in from the emergency room now and from my stay in the hospital and getting a human being on the phone is proving to be quite an obsticle for me. Good luck with everything and keep us posted. Take care.
Thanks, it's just a shock that the doctors never put the wording URGENT on my letter to the hospital, instead he put routine, and even trying to find out where I was in the system was a minefield, everyone wants to " hide " behind emails, or can't work out the appointments if you get through to a human being, and all the time people are paying more for a worsening system, we are going backwards in time in fact it's worse than ever, i hope you can sort out your various bills, everything is about money and lack of understanding, best of luck!
Thank you CB. You too with getting in to get your testing completed in a reasonable amount of time. Wishing you peace and well-being. Take care of yourself.
