Supplements and hair loss ....help

Do you think supplements can cause hair loss, i must admit i take a shedload of vitamins and always have done so, but suddenly my hair is falling out in handfuls and its upsetting me terribly, or do you think its stress related because I've had a very difficult couple of years.

i've always had a good head of hair ,albeit very fine, and this is affecting me badly, so much so i don't want to leave the house.

l think it can be either stress, being low and run down or side effects of medication. I lost hair through medication. I have spent lots of money on special shampoo for hair growth but nothing seems to work for me, only volume shampoo and conditioner helps. It’s not very nice for a woman to have this.

More than likely it's stress related and time will help sort things out!

Sometimes if your hair is falling out in handfuls it’s more than just normal hair loss, your thyroid can affect hair loss, I’d have a chat with your dr, and maybe have some blood tests

I'm so sorry to hear this - I can understand how upsetting it is. If you are able to get a doctors appointment, it might be a good idea to see if they can help. The people that deal with problem hair are called trichologists (or something like that). And yes, stress doesn't help, so do what you can to reduce it. Best of luck!

Sorry about the hair loss. I suggest you check the side effects of the medications you are currently taking including the supplements.

hi, it’s worth seeing the doctor for blood tests to check your thyroid ect, stress of course can cause it and under eating. Most supplements don’t actually do anything for you unless you have blood tests to show you are low in something

A lot of these supplements are a waste of time and money in my view bar the ones you get prescribed from the doctors!

💯 agree, I’m on iron as I’m anemic and I’ve to get a vitamin b12 injection every 3 months from the nurse at my doctors surgery.

I had iron tablets back in 2018 for a couple of months and they did a blood test when I had finished the course which thankfully was fine!

At a previous job there was a colleague there who had b12 injections as well!

Hi I had my hair falling out in clumps until I went to a dermatologist and they put me on Spironalactone And it then stopped coming out.
