soooo, i finally talked to my midwife about the terrible anxiety I’ve had and kindve cried in front of her.. I got prescribed Zoloft so I guess I’m going to take it tonight but I am so scared of getting psychosis from it cause I’ve read where people get misdiagnosed and it causes them to have psychosis.
but lately I’ve really just felt like not myself like I don’t recognize myself in the mirror I don’t feel like me like there’s just something blocking me from feeling like myself. Idk.

I will tell you I have to agree with you. I have a new med provider. I told her the new med for anxiety was working well, but I need something for sleep due to chronic insomnia and PTSD. She asked if I ever tried trazadone or serequel. I said one of the 2, but it made me have tardive diskynesia and gain 100 lbs and 2 more symptoms. She tried to prescribe it again. It is anANTI PSYCHOTIC. I was furious! Called her back and said I'm not taking it. I don't hallucinate hear voices, or see things...... I have bipolar, PTSD, and chronic insomnia due to PTSD. I want a sleeping pill to help with the insomnia. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. Be careful who you talk to. I wouldNEVER tell a midwife info like that.
I don't want to frighten you, but I'd call or go on line. There are DR's more skilled to diagnose your issues, unless your midwife is your primary care provider.
Well I would go to a medical doctor but more importantly a psychiatrist. Reason why a psychiatrist is because that is more in their lane to prescribe medication for depression etc. PCPs or general physicians know a little bit about mental health but not a lot. They can yeah prescribe you a medication for whatever but not explain to you important things like it may not work. Most people don't know this that SSRIs don't work for half of the people that get prescribed. That's because it doesn't work with their body chemistry. That's why there are different meds for depression and even a side kick like Latuda (?) which is taken with antidepressant to help. Also people have the assumption that if I take this, it cures everything else. It doesn't. Also it's not fast acting. Takes about months give or take to notice any improvement or change.
Not feeling like your there is a symptom of anxiety. It's called depersonalization or derealization. Where you feel unattached from reality. However it's more of a sensation than a sign that you are losing your mind. So that's some good news. You aren't crazy, you just have very high anxiety. You just need to maybe speak with a counselor on how to cope better with anxiety. Cause once your anxiety levels start to drop off the depersonalization or derealization will too.
