lemon balm has shown to alleviate some symptoms of anxiety short term. If you're thinking about taking any herbal supplement as a treatment for anxiety, talk with your doctor or other medical professional first, especially if you take other medicines.
I’m confused, so you and your doctor have opted for a natural herbal approach? They are aware and you’ve spoken about it. so, then what has the doctor said about this lemon balm?
We mentioned a few natural products in the past, lemon balm being one, but we didn't go into much detail about it yet. We are trying trial and error to see what is best for me since thankfully I don't have any allergies or take medication. When I spoke with my doctor in the past, she mentioned that there's no harm in trying a few herbal remedies but if I react in any way then I should stop taking it. I will talk to her more about lemon balm and see if I should try it.
' It doesn't hurt to try'.....Well, yes it can, especially if you are on any other medication.
I would echo what litethatnevergoesout has said. It's important that you speak to a doctor or a pharmacist first. I don't know what 'multiple sources' you have got your information from, but it's always safest to personally consult a medical person.
Yes you're right. I appreciate your response I will ask my doctor about it. At the moment I'm not on any medication and I've talked to a sports therapist and a nutritionist about this and they gave me their opinion on it along with other individuals who have been taking lemon balm.
I'm sure they were helpful- but of course, we all react differently to things. What is suitable for one person might be not be suitable for others. Your doctor will know your medical history.
I grow lemon balm in my herb garden and swear by it, ... but as always... talk to your doctor about it, make sure you don't have any allergies taking an herb, or chemical interactions with drugs you're taking with the herbals, and do your homework. Most say herbs are a psychological fix, and that they don't really do anything. But when you consider they have been helping people and animals for thousands of years... compared to less than a couple of hundred years of pharmaceuticals, then they must have been doing something. The reality is, many drugs today are rooted either directly from the plants, or from the chemical makeup of a plant.
I often use lemon balm as a medicinal tea for colds, mixed with Manuka honey and chamomile and a little lavender....
You're right, if it had some reductions in symptoms centuries ago then it must be doing something. I will talk to a doctor about it soon and see if it's for me.
