depersonalization

I have been with this wonderful community for sometime. I haven’t posted in quite a while. Along with depression, anxiety and panic I suffer from very bad depersonalization. It is debilitating. Many psychiatrists really do not understand it. I feel so alone. I am looking for some support from others who suffer with this and how to navigate through it. I force myself to go out occasionally but it is extremely difficult and I can’t wait to get back to the safety of home. Sometimes I just want to give up. I am also a dialysis patient which just adds to the whole mess. Thank you in advance for any helpful or encouraging words.

I understand Frankie. I’ve dealt with both depersonalization and de realization off and on for most of my life. I know it can be very scary! It makes it worse when you get hyper stressed over it. Looking at yourself from the outside is one way your mind escapes from stress. In derealization you just check out for a brief time while another part of you continues to function normally on auto pilot . Both of them pass in time. I’ve had it happen while I’m driving but when I jumped back into my mind I was exactly where I wanted to be! My stressed mind just took a short break. It helps to ground yourself with deep breathing and meditation. When I drive now I always have music on which helps a lot. Also I garden which gives my mind a break and results in a lot of pulled weeds👍. Try to find something you like to do and go for when you’re really stressed it does help. Sometimes I bake bread as the more you pound on it the better it is! You feel better and you have something tasty to show for it. Hang in there!
