What's for dinner?...any unusual offbeat suggestions?

I do love my food and often eat unusual variations to make a change.

Today i deliberately cooked carrots, sweetheart cabbage, potatoes, onions and cauliflower to make tonight into ''Bubble and Squeak'' which i will eat with a sirloin steak i found in the freezer, although bubble and squeak eaten on its own makes a hearty and satisfying meal.

What foods do you enjoy?

Tonight's dinner here will be creamy veg pasta that I made on Sunday when I was in made from vegetables from the freezer that I stocked up on back in March just before I started at that care home where I wish I had never gone there but I would rather regret taking the opportunity than not!

It was nice that the jobcentre were on my side when I said about the bullying at the care home and how I was silly to think I was being silly and oversensitive when they made those petty criticisms like the pasta salad thing and the breakfast trays and how it had come to a head when I was shouted at for no good reason!

Lunch it's the usual sandwiches that I bought down in the city centre before I went to the dss who were nice and when I see them again next week it will be nice and easy!

Yesterday I was in and had noodles, veg and meatballs from the store cupboard and the same on Sunday for lunch as I had dinner out on Saturday so decided to compromise and do a swop!

I also have used up a white cabbage that was hanging around in the fridge as well!

I said to the jobcentre about the eating down the pantry and freezer thing and they said it was a great idea as it stops food getting thrown in the bin and wasted!

Hi Roddy. Not only does that sound delicious but very healthy as well. Last night I had a squash bisque served over squash filled ravioli. It was simple but delicious. Tonight we're going for the old special Shepherds Pie made with fresh corn cut off the cob. I hope you're doing well. Bon appetit my friend.

hello Hypsie, bubble and squeak has always been a staple in the UK, its generally all the left over veg cut up and fried in Sunflower oil or olive oil, with pepper and herbs until slightly crispy , and some people just eat it with an egg on the top.

Like you i enjoy salmon, and your recipe sounds lovely.

Sounds bland and boring, but oatmeal. I mix in tons of different types of nuts and my favorite dried fruit. Then a small swirl of brown sugar and milk. Boring, but filling and healthy.

I love oats cooked with chopped apples and pecans stirred in last. Maple syrup too. Yum.
