So I did well transitioning from Effexor to Zoloft. Some bad dizziness and stuff but I managed. Now I’m kinda struggling with feeling sad… mainly I think it’s due to being on a low dose and getting Zoloft built up in my system.
I’m just feeling sad and wishing my struggles with mental health were easier… something I’m sure we all wish. It’s like a weight in my chest. It was about this time last year that I was realllllyyyyy struggling with severe panic attacks. So I can be grateful that is being managed… now I guess it’s just sadness.
I did all the things today, went to work, took a walk with a friend, got pizza (my favorite), and am watching a funny movie. Just hoping tomorrow will be a little better 🩷

Happy for you that your transition is going well. I also take effexor, highest dose now, and worry it will stop working eventually. You have given me hope that transitioning to something different won't be as bad as some have told me. It's been a fear of mine for a while. I never knew that effexor was one of the most difficult antidepressants to come off of. You seem to have done very well. I'm sure once you're settled on the correct dose of your new medication, the sadness will pass. You're doing everything right! Take care 🙂
Thank you so much 🩷 Your words of encouragement always help me a lot.
I was on Lexapro for 16 yrs and it stopped working and that’s when I changed to effexor. It had its benefits but I couldn’t seem to get rid of the night terrors and still having panic attacks 🤷♀️ I think any change in meds is difficult but we are always stronger than we think.
You're welcome! I hope you're feeling a bit better today. It's funny how these meds work differently on all of us. Effexor has been great for me, but I feel like I'm getting to the end of its effectiveness. I've been on just about everything it seems, imipramine, paxil, zoloft, lexapro, now Effexor. Pheww 🤪
Thank you! I am feeling better today 😊 Even tho we all know the bad times pass it’s still challenging when your in the middle of a tough day or time. So it’s helpful to just connect with someone who is understanding of the difficulties we go thru.
And I know! I was blessed that Lexapro worked for me for so long 🩷 Now it’s just the struggle to find out if this one will be better than effexor. I think I’ll be ok once it’s built up more in my system.
Having another anxious day 😱 I got ahold of my dr and he said it’s normal and expected while switching.
Driving to my mother in laws today which probably doesn’t help cuz we DO NOT get along. But we decided to go for Mother’s Day. Plus I get to go to the beach tomorrow 🩷
Just needed to vent a little and reach out. Hope your having a Good Friday
One day at a time, you've got this! My day was okay, nothing exciting, but calm at least! Nice you'll be going to the beach, that should be relaxing. Don't worry about your mother in law, just focus on the sun and waves! 🏖
Glad to hear things are moving along for you, as difficult as it can be; I hated Effexor and was glad to be rid of it. I'm chiming in for one selfish reason, because I'm nosey and gotta know... WHAT MOVIE?? 😁
what dose are you on? I take 50 mg in the morning and 50 at night. I may need to get on a higher dose. I didn’t like the loss of appetite 😣. I lost weight and am now trying to gain it back. At times I feel the sadness so wonder if a higher dosage is needed. I was on Lexapro for about 15 years and it stopped working. Check with your doctor.
