My poem about persevering thru depression :)

hi everyone, thought I’d share a poem I wrote a couple weeks ago. Here’s the idea behind it: I often find myself frustrated and sad about my depression. Some days I feel like my normal self and other days it comes out of nowhere and rings me out like a wet towel. I’m sure you guys can relate. The hardest part for me is that happiness is a given for so many people, but I have to waste so much of my precious time simply struggling for what I can’t seem to grasp.

I’m trying to flip the script in my perspective- not see myself as the victim but as the warrior 💪 we’ve been through hell but we’re still here! ❤️ And to recognize that staying positive and pushing thru this hard season is like planting seeds that will grow our character and strength and benefit us later in life. Hope anyone reading can find some meaning. <3

For some

Happiness comes

Sure as the sun

As for me I sweat for it

Some strike gold

In a minute

And they’re off

While I cough amidst the the rocks

These days in the cave

In the thickest of shadows

Where the airs thins, light dims

And sleep would stifle my sorrows

Are not wasted, no-

But each moment a treasure;

Cause to will myself to struggle on

Will one day do me all the better

Your opening thoughts are just as impactful as your poem. Someday I will do more writing (I think) and I often thought of poetry as a possible pursuit. Well done.👍

Remember that when you see these smiling people, it's just a snapshot. If you saw them all the time, you would see that they have struggles too. Maybe not with mood disorders but as the old song goes, everybody hurts.
