He is only 12. And been through a lot. Needles poking into his body every now and then, various tubes and cannula in his vicinity. Just as the chemo drugs effect reduces another chemo is due. He is constantly tired and ill. And suffers, literally suffers from a cancer with no known cause. That should mean it is probably genes to blame. Grandparents to blame, parents to blame, their lifestyle to blame. But who suffers is my brother. And this tender age .
Been through 16 rounds of chemo in 6 months with a major surgery done to remove the chemo. 6 more chemo to go and suddenly his lungs have infection. And now new treatment has to be ordered for his infection and more days have to be spent in hospital.
Why do kids with cancer lose the light of joy, the amusement in their eyes by the end of chemo?
Why do they have to work hard at survival?
These times have taught me. Health is the biggest blessing and the most significant thing in life.

I’m so sorry that your brother is going thru all of this suffering. You R brave to have come to HU and told your story. We R a supportive group here. I will say healing ❤️🩹 prayers for your brother. Yes you R right, health is the most important thing. I’m here 4 U. Hugs S
Not that good but better since last few days. It's been tough for my brother and he has shut us out. Not talking just staring at everyone, not interesting in video games like before. And that pains me a lot.
Even if he just stares at you, still go up and hug him. Perhaps he needs to talk so coax him into letting it all come out as he is obviously very depressed, which is understandable.
I'm very sorry to read your brother is sick. I hope at the end of this he is ok. It's very hard to be on the sidelines watching someone you love fight this battle.
Try not to place blame on your family genetics. It's not always the case.
Have you looked on HU for any cancer sites? It may be helpful to have support from members with experience on the specific cancer.
Yes thankyou, I look forward to visiting those sites. I have diagnosed myself with anemia/gastritis/endometriosis a couple of times 😅 with any investigations done. Actually there's a syndrome where medical students take the concept too deeply and then start believing they have those symptoms.
You are so right, health is wealth, without it you have nothing, sending best wishes to you and your brother, it’s so hard to see someone you love suffering😘
It is not appropriate to solicit personal information from another member on this site- or any HU site You are familiar. Have you suddenly changed your username?
Being a son of a father with Cancer, I know how difficult it is to see someone you love fighting the battle. But there is always light at the end of the tunnel. I am sure that your brother will come of this ordeal very soon with smiles all over. The only thing we can do is continuously talk with the patient give moral support and try to divert his attention away from his treatment. My healing prayers are with you and your brother. Stay Blessed
Your strength will help them - support and care so important and you are doing well for them but does not stop worry and concern. Talking is good and your brother loves you
l will pray for this brave little boy. It puts our own troubles into perspective. The chemo will suppress his immune system and that is why he will pick up infections. He is young , so has more chance of survival and complete cure. He will get through this and this will pass. I am a Christian and God tells us that he will “replace the days the locusts have eaten.” We don’t understand but we keep praying that God knows best and has a plan for our good. Nothing is impossible with him. Miracles still happen. Don’t give up hope for this lovely little boy and keep praying. Let him know he is special and loved and that it won’t always be like this for him because every day is a day closer to getting better. A hug from me and lots of prayers. ❤️
First and foremost I’m truly sorry for what your brother is enduring right now. My nephew was 12 when they found a tumor on his brain. The pain and suffering he went thru , I tell you he was my hero. The tumor was wrapped around his brain stem and was very difficult to get to. They had to cut open half of his skull to get to it. He had to have a feeding tube for a while . They got majority of the tumor thank the lord. He has a permanent stent , not sure if I’m spelling that correctly. It’s to keep fluid off his brain. He is deaf now in one ear from surgery. He is now 25 years old and such an amazing person. Just keep being there for your brother and praying over him. Keep hoping for the best and don’t speak any negative around him. Also he thought he was going to die because of the pain he was going thru , so the preacher came and talked to him in private one day this was before his surgery. And asked him if he knew where he would go if he did die. So long story short he wanted to get saved and be baptized in Christ. On the way to the church they had to pull over several times because he was so sick at his stomach. His parents said son let’s just go home and rest. He wouldn’t he said no this is something I don’t have to but want to do. When they baptized him he could hardly stand. It was one of the most rejoicing moments in my life. He’s so amazing and I pray nothing but wellness and healing over your brother right now. Also I pray and thank you for helping your brother cause he needs you right now. Life is hard sometimes but harder for others. There is no amount of money that can make you happy. If you have your health you have it all. Health and love is all we need.
