buspar withdrawal

I know I read that buspar doesn’t cause withdrawal symptoms when stopped but I’m seeing very bad withdrawal symptoms as my mom tapers off. Had to stop because it made her anxiety a lot worse . Anyone experienced withdrawal for this drug?

Hi there, I'm not sure where you got the info that Buspar doesn't have withdrawal symptoms because it does. Symptoms can include sleeplessness, irrability, changing moods, depression, anxiety, aches and pains and the list goes on. Dosing down is incredibly important and needs to be the right way. If you need help, please contact me.

Thank you for the reply, I have been lowering her dose slowly trying to keep the withdrawal as little as possible. It definitely has withdrawal affects even going down with her dose slow. She has had those symptoms. She’s taking 2.5 mg twice a day now. Then real slowly plan to skip a day once or twice a week for awhile then maybe every other day for some time before stopping.

Yes Xanax she has been taking and that’s the only medication that doesn’t give her any side affects. Anything that affects dopamine, serotonin, Noradrenaline and list goes on. Think they’re finally realized that now after trying many of those types of medications. It’s crazy how bad they can affect some people mentally. Xanax causes none of that. Everyone is different for sure.

Yes she has Xanax which helps get through some of the withdrawal symptoms. Crazy how medicine can’t make you feel bad taking it and stopping it also.

Hey Since lowering her dose of buspar she has had a lot worse depression. How often should I lower her medicine. She’s been on her current dose for 5 days. Now she takes 2.5 mg morning and noon. So close to the end of it. Hopefully these side affects don’t last a long time!
