Yes, many of the meds like 2 weeks (or so) to fully kick in. My doctor just increase mine as well & warned me of the time. I know it will seem like a long time, but please don't give up hope. You aren't alone.... we're in these 2 weeks together. Have you tired some breathing exercises? It's helping me, did some last night, slept a little better than I've been.
Hope you are having a good night, Melissa
Ok thank you. Having some anxiety right now, trying to stay calm. I've never used Xanax and I'm thinking I should ask my doc if I could take that until Lexapro increase starts working.
Any change in your dose or med can increase your anxiety as you wait to see a difference. It seems like forever as you wait it out. melbrown's/Melissa's advice about breathing exercises is good. Use any methods you have learned to handle increased anxiety to get through this period until the med increase kicks in. If you have a tranquilizer that you aren't currently using, ask your doctor if you could use it now for temporary purposes. It may not be a good idea, let the doctor guide you.
It will get better, it takes time. I know it stinks to wait, but it will kick in.
I increased 2 days ago and been fighting off more panic and anxiety. I am hoping it gets better soon and starts working.
