My elderly father has been diagnosed with early stages of dementia. Im extremely anxious and can’t stop thinking about his diagnoses and how I can help him. Only me and my mother are able to provide any care for him. He has multiple other health problems and it’s making the situation worse. We cannot afford to put him in assisted living home without paying thousands out of pocket. I go over several times a week for a few hours but Its not enough. I don’t know what do do or how to cope. I can’t sleep and feel the need to cry all the time. I’m feel like I’m helpless and can’t do anything. I was already dealing with depression and anxiety before his diagnosis, but now I I feel so helplessly lost and a terrible sadness that doesn’t go away. I have a very small friend circle and but nobody seems to truly understand the gravity of the situation and how bad it’s affecting me. I just want my dad to be comfortable and taken care of. I just want to be happy again but I feel like it’s never going to happen.

My Father has dementia and I’m really struggling.
I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you and your family. Remember to breathe and take a moment to re-center yourself. I don't know if this could help you, but it might be worth a look. alz.org/help-support/caregi... Hope it helps
My heart goes out to you. I am glad you are here with us. You will get a lot of support here.
Hello if your father gets assessed he will get funded by the state at least they do in my country UK there allowed£ 23ooo to keep before having to pay care home fees, my dad had to go in a home it is too difficult when in advanced stages they need 24 7 care, my dad was self paid but he had 2 pensions and was on attendance allowance it goes up when need 24 7 care, 🤗
My heart goes out to you and your Mom as you deal with your Dad's illness. I am also going thru a similiar situation with my Mom. I have signed up with alz.org that was suggested to you in a previous reply and it has been a huge help. Please remember to also take care of yourself thru this difficult journey.
