Battling Depression

Yesterday was a little harder last night. It's been a rough couple of days for me mentally and it's becoming increasingly difficult to mask this in front of people. My boss is concerned for me. I'm trying my best, however. I went to the park yesterday and read for about 45mins. I know I'm going to have harder days, been doing this for years, but it's exhausting when the harder days are getting more difficult to deal with.

hi, do you have a counselor? or an employee assistance program? are you on medication? all of these can be a start, but you probably are way ahead of this....

good for you for doing self care going to the park....

If you are diagnosed with depression, employers need to give you certain allowances like extra breaks to go to the park etc.

just some ideas, I relate and good for you how you are caring for yourself and reaching out...

I started on Buprprion (I think thats how you spell it) a week and a half ago, and my first psychiatrist apt. is next week. I have super bad anxiety so it makes stuff way worse than what it should be. Also, did not know about that with employers! I will check that out, thank you! I know things will get better I am just out of it this week.

I understand. I have had depression for many years, decades. You are still young, may be temporary.... good you are going to psychiatrist. He or she can answer questions....maybe has something in addition for anxiety...employers have to accommodate disabilities...yeah, it is good....xx

Good to hear! It would probably be a little difficult for breaks like that, I am one of the managers of my store and the only one there for a period of time until the next one comes in.

I have had depression ever since I can remember but I was never formally diagnosed until about 4-5 years ago. I had quit the therapist because he was not helpful but I am hoping now I can get help from someone who can give me the tools to do so.

Thank you so much for responding, I wish you many days of sunshine.

just remember this....as long as you are putting forth the effort....that's all that matter....sometimes we can accomplish many goals....sometimes the only thing we accomplish is surviving today so we can try again tomorrow...the most important things are to 1) never give up hope...(because sometimes hope is all that we have..) and 2) never quit trying....as the only time a person truly and honestly fails....is when they completely quit trying
