I'm currently in therapy and have pretty severe anxiety and depression and my therapist suggests medication, my only issue is my parents are extremely religious and refused to consider when I suggested several months ago. Any ideas on how to get around the need for parental consent or just ways to help severe anxiety without medication?

if your old enough it`s totally up to you and they have no say in the matter. work on things with your therapist a bit longer see how you feel before making that choice.
Do you get bad fear and dizziness?
With help with anxiety is your parent willing to buybsome books for you by chance. 90 seconds to a life you love is a good read and has some great tips to help. If you want some general tips. Take 15 mins somewhere as quite and take deep breaths, slowly relax and try to feel grounded. There are also some YouTube videos that can help, also of you feel safe and you like writing. Just write down your feeling, write down how it feels then, write down maybe the trigger was. Then slowly work backwards from there. These are some tips that help me.
I find it interesting that your parents are ok with you going to a therapist, but not ok with some of the recommendations the therapist makes. Have you tried meditation? It has nothing to do with religion, but many religious people believe it goes against their religion. Perhaps you can download a meditation app on your phone. Deep breathing exercises also help. You can find information on deep breathing exercises online- try YouTube. Exercise also helps- even if you just walk. If you are religious yourself, prayer can help. As a previous poster mentioned, books can help. I've never read her books, but I've heard from a lot of people that Claire Weeks' books are very helpful if you have anxiety.
