Hi everyone I'm new here I suffer from anxiety and get frequent panic attacks I feel like my heart is just going to stop. I have a severe fear of death and can't stop my brain from thinking. I work in the medical field so I'm constantly hearing about sudden deaths and that makes paranoid and gets me thinking about my health. I find my heart just racing randomly and not sure if its anxiety or hypertension I'm so confused and just want to be the happy person that I was before.

Hey, yes I understand how you feel. I won't lie and say I exactly know how you feel Bc only you know but I am here to help and share my similar experience and how I deal with my anxiety and depression. The medical field in general can be very stressful with its constant & high demands. I was a medical receptionist and also attended the LPN nursing program. I understand the paranoia about your health. However Remember it's not all your fault or just your condition that makes you paranoid. We are constantly bombarded by health alerts and expectations of our health it is easy to get anxious and depressed when you fall short from today's standards. I may be getting off topic but some things that help me to deal day to day is I pray. I keep a prayer journal. I let my mistakes be what they are MISTAKES. They should not keep you bounded. But rather should uplift you to do better in the future. I ask God for forgiveness and then I move forward & try again. It seems simple but it takes practice and I did not get here overnight. It felt weird at first and I gave up many times. I even questioned if God existed. So don't feel alone if this doesn't work for you. I don't know how religious you are but that is always an option. If not then you can try drawing, word searches, coloring, painting, rapping/singing/music in general (it helped when I was younger to write my own songs), video games, cooking, cleaning, exercise. These are just suggestions. Feel free to ask and we can collaborate and see if we can help come up with some solutions. 2 heads are better than 1
Gigi,
I really do not like going to the doctor. I am in general healthy, but my BP does spike when I go to the doctor and they make me feel worse for having this reaction. Of course, they tell us that High BP and being overweight can cause many medical issues, but a doctor should understand that a person with anxiety needs to manage some of their symptoms of anxiety as well. I encourage you to not read too much and try "not to make their problem yours". Its very important to focus on your health, but first start working on your mental health. Sometimes we need meds to help us, but most of the time we need to work on our self talk and constant overthinking. I dislike that late at night on tv we are bombarded by depression and sleep medicine commercials. They really should be banned from tv and doctors should prescribe them and not have patients asking for them.
Just work on yourself and know you are not alone. Talk it out and work through the challenges. I hope this helps a little.
Hi Gigi. Am so sorry to hear you are going through this. I hope today is going to be a better day.
Death is not something to fear if you believe in God and Jesus Christ. Fearing HOW you die is normal. If you have Faith in an afterlife in heaven your fear is no longer. How do you gain faith? By going to church and reading the Bible which teaches you about heaven. Its really easy to have faith but you need to trust God and the Bible. Get your hands on one and start reading the Gospel of John. Sorry if this offends you but I have to share my love and faith, esp with someone in your situation. I do care.
Hi! I am the self-proclaimed queen of self-diagnosing. Anytime I ever hear anyone has anything, I convince myself I have the EXACT SAME THING. I talked to my doctor about this, mostly because she was tired of seeing me every couple months for some huge issue I was afraid I was having, and she said that I should use my medical knowledge as a way to reason that I do not have the medical issues that I’ve diagnosed myself with. Basically instead of hearing something and thinking I have it, use what I know to determine that I do not have it. It’s actually been very helpful! Hope this helps!
