I just joined the group. Suffering from GAD and depression. While I understand many of the techniques that will lessen my anxiety, like mindfulness, exercise, exposure to uncomfortable things, I find that since I am trying to do this on my own, I have good days and bad days. On my bad days, I avoid or resist these activities, which I believe is delaying my recovery. Welcome all good advice out there. Thanks!

always remember the good days blips and periods of being down will happen to us all but holding on to the good days shows us that it doesn`t always need to be doom and gloom. stick with the mindfulness and the other things that will go a long way for a more stable future.
Hi there. Acceptance of all anxiety symptoms is the key to recovery and doing absolutely nothing to change those anxious thoughts and feelings.Secondly, acceptance also means facing all those fears and living your life as if you don't have anxiety and taking it with you for the ride.
Anxiety thrives on avoidance tactics so during my recovery, I still went to work, played sport and socialised even though my anxiety was telling me to avoid at all costs. I ignored those thoughts and feelings and did it any way. Apart from recovering, it also meant I had no lingering regrets about missing out on things and have long since forgotten how bad the bad times were. Time is the healer.
Through acceptance, all those negative thoughts and feelings gradually disappeared.
Hope this helps.

Hello welcome I can relate in that on bad days we really don't feel like can be bothered to do the things we need to feel better, my self I have my meditation CDs waiting again even bought new cd player, I tend to find it easier to just take a walk I'm lucky I live near a park brisk walk certainly gets the seretonin happy hormone flowing, I'm telling myself I'll start swimming in spring, remember how good it feels when you do the help tasks, you don't need to go to a jym I find putting the music old 8os stuff on TV gets me in mood to dance exercise, I noticed your name west ham are you a west ham footy supporter, that's a great way to feel better distracting with sport TV, and as kenster1 said foccus on the good days and if it's a bad today tomorrow is another day, I hope you will have more good than bad, join in on chats on here but have regular breaks from too many negative post reading it's not all gloom on here, take care 🤗
