Hi everyone, I just joined this group today. I wanted to get some things off my chest. I deal with panic attacks and panic disorder. I haven’t had a panic attack since I started my Lexpro a few months back until last week on Friday. I can’t really understand why my brain is the way it is lol. One of my big triggers is looking at my heart rate on my apple watch which may sound stupid. I am feeling quite down since I’ve been doing so good…

Welcome to the community.

It's good that the lexapro was doing its job.

Did something appear on your heart rate monitor on Friday? Is that why you panicked?

Many people look at their heart rates more than they should and get anxious.

We are here to support you

Welcome jommy. I don't know about the medication your on but I know about anxiety triggers and a heart rate monitor sounds like it could be a problem. If its causing you to obsess maybe you could think about getting rid of it?

Hi, thank for your feedback and suggestion! I actually did remove the heart rate app off my apple watch today 🙂 feeling proud of myself. It definitely doesn’t help to look at it and keep looking at it. I do notice myself obsessing over it more than normal, even when doing things that are supposed to get my heart rate up, like exercising.

Hi. Setbacks are part and parcel of the recovery process from panic disorder and any other fear based condition such as anxiety, OCD, agoraphobia etc etc.Accept them with good grace in the same way you accepted things when it was all going well for you. You.may feel as though you have gone back to square one but that isn't the case.

If you want to learn more about panic disorder and how to be free if it permantly, look up Dr Claire Weekes and practice her preaching! You won't go far wrong.

Best wishes ❤️

Hi jommy, I am glad that you have had a good time. When you have been there I think down times are a great chance to see what triggers your anxiety and then preparing to sit in it. I find it easier to sit in if I know why I am triggered by something. I have a very weird financial mindset and it helps me realize that financial things are going to be triggering and to accept that, feel it, and move on as I would like. Perhaps you have a fear of heart attacks or stroke or whatever is associated with high heart rate. I understand that things may be weird, I can easily spiral into depression beating myself up for drinking a mtn dew 😁

Welcome to the community. I also get scared checking my heart rate on my watch. I'm glad the watch is damaged.
