Lost my job because of anxiety :(

anxiety is ruining my life. I have been struggling with anxiety for several months, it started with severe migraines and dizziness, so the gp said it was a neurological problem... I was diagnosed after a few months, when my symptoms were already very strong. I tried many medications, but unfortunately I reacted very badly to them. I am currently taking mirtazapine 15mg for anxiety, the side effects have passed and I started therapy, so I hoped that everything would be fine... unfortunately, I was dismissed from my job (I worked in a hospital), the employer did not want to wait any longer for my return... all the symptoms got worse (severe headache, strong dizziness, chest pain, jittery feeling and really low mood). Returning to work was a great motivation to fight the disease, but now I've been fired...

Hi, Mirta. Did you take a leave of absence?

Hi I had sick for 7 months...I told them I feel much better now but they just dismissed me. Didn't offer me reduce my hours, redeyployment or anything. I told them that gp misdiagnosed me and I spent months without proper treatment but they don't care. I'm very disappointed :(

So sorry you lost your Job. I’m taking it that your not in GB as there are a lot of rights around MH and employment.

Returning to work is the best medicine.

I’m over a year on mirtazipine and found that 15mg just didn’t agree with me. It did work at times but no consistency. I’m still on it and in work for the past year. I have found that splitting the 15mg in half has been better for me.

It’s important to note that everyone is different. Soon I will lower the dosage to 3.75mg using a tablet splitter.

Worst. I’d take I made was taking it and waiting for something to happen. Being back in work is the normal and does you good. Just the routine. Also try and get a routine and have a goal when you will be coming off them. There was a time you didn’t need or take them.

I too was just like you as you explained and found the dosage was far too strong. Half of tablet seems to be my sweet spot.

My goal is to half the 7.5 mg and he off them completely by August.

Wishing you well.

Thanks for your reply. I live in UK. I'm thinking of appealing the decision but I don't know if it will help. I have very low mood because of this situation:(

Hospital job? There must be support from employment law. Surely regarding mental health and the profession you are in. Go and get advice.
