hi guys. 10 days ago I had a laparotomy which is open abdominal surgery to remove a huge cyst and my left ovary/fallopian tube. The surgery went well with no complications and I was discharged 3 days later. On discharge I was very dizzy walking about for the first time which I get is normal. Since then I’ve had my wound checked twice and it’s healing perfectly. I’m on day 10 and the pain is so much better. I stoped taking my dihydracodine last night as I felt I didn’t need it. Since lastnight I’ve experienced horrendous dizziness and an overwhelming sense of anxiety along with it. I was checked lastnight by a dr and my Blood pressure and everything was ok and she put the dizziness down to anxiety. I didn’t mention I had stopped taking my pain meds as I didn’t think this was relevant at the time. Could this be causing my dizziness? I was taking 30mg of dihydracodine 3 times a day for around 8 days. Could it be with-drawl? Now the gps have closed for Christmas I’m worried this is going to ruin my Christmas. It’s debilitating, doesn’t help I have extreme health anxiety along side.

Being an opiate, it is possibly a withdrawal symptom. From a quick Google search for dihydrocodeine withdrawal symptoms, one of the top results listed dizziness as a symptom, while the others did not. It could be a mix of both withdrawal symptoms and anxiety together.
Since you have been checked out by a doctor, and the doctor thinks it is anxiety related, then I am inclined to trust the doctor on that. I am assuming you asked the doctor if it could be withdrawal related?
Also, congrats on your successful surgery.
* UPDATE *
Day 2 and I now have vomited twice today along with needing bowel movements more regularly. Just in time for Christmas when all the Drs are shut 😭 really hoping this is just with drawls or a silly bug that clears up soon.
