I'm feeling anxious

Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read this. I'm feeling anxious right now about tomorrow. Lately, I've started to develop some anxiety about leaving my home and I have a doctor's appointment in the morning, and at some point after that, I have to take my car to get a state inspection done that I've put off till the last minute. I took off work to get these two things done so that helps a bit time-wise. I know I can get these two things done but I'll just be anxious and stressed till both are completed and I'm safely back home. I know the anxiety I have around this stuff is weird and doesn't make much sense but it's just what I'm feeling right now.

Hi and Welcome PoodleBlue to a safe understanding forum.

I totally understand your anxiety about tomorrow since I too use to feel

that way. Actually couldn't do 2 things in one day. So you are better than

I was.

I became Agoraphobic because of my fear of going out. What I found helped

me is reading Dr Claire Weekes' book on "Hope & Help for Your Nerves". A book

on the theory of Acceptance. Since your appt is tomorrow, may I suggest that you

take a listen to her videos on YouTube this evening. Her words are simple but true.

Don't allow Anxiety to make your mind lie to you and take control over your actions.

Your world will get smaller and smaller as mine did for 5 years.

The good thing is that I overcame the fear and anxiety in going out. It takes time

and patience and consistency but it can be done.

We are here for you if you need some support tomorrow. I know you can do it.

You may be anxious but you can break through that anxiety by putting one foot

in front of the other and kicking anxiety and it's thoughts to the curb.

Show your fear who is in charge. We've got your back. Good Luck and let us know

how tomorrow goes. :) xx

hi Agora1, thank you for the book recommendation, I started reading it the night you recommended it. its actually free on audible with narration from the author herself. I think it really helped, im always on the serch for a new book about anxiety that is actually helpful and im happy to have found one. actually after my doc appt and car inspection I did something I was to anxious to do for months, I went to a diner for lunch that I had never been to before. The diner wasn't to packed and the waitresses and random people I bummed into throughout the day were all nice and poliet. Anyway what I really wanted to say was thank you for being encouraging and understanding and also for the book!

Wow PoodleBlue, I'm so proud of you. You see, once we start moving in the right

direction, things become a little easier and we want to do more.

I'm so glad that you took that extra step and treated yourself at the diner.

Good for you...

Dr Claire Weekes theory is the foundation I built my success on. I'm glad

that you are getting into her work. Today was a big win for you..,

You've Got This My Friend.....Congratulations :) xx

Welcome to the community. We are here to listen and support you.

Your anxiety is not weird, many of us feel anxious leaving our home.

Do some deep breathing and tell yourself you can do this.

I hope things go well

🐬

It is not unusual to have anxiety around normal tasks. It happens to me still. I do know that it feels better once you have been proactive and complete them.

I also would try to limit such tasks to one at a time but that is often not realistic in life. I try to do some deep breathing while I go about my "to do's".

I definitely understand the feeling.

Sometimes when I complete one or more anxiety causing tasks, I reward myself in some small way.

The book Agora1 suggests is helpful, I almost done reading it.
