That's very hurtful. I'm sorry they are doing this

welcome to the group,

Friendship is a strange thing, some people think that they are there for you in their hearts. When in reality they’re not.

I know it’s frustrating but it could be as simple as they don’t realise that you are in need of support.

I have had the same thing. I know the feeling.

A lot of people feel very uncomfortable dealing with anxiety and depression. They might feel that since they don't know what to do, it's better not to try and possibly make things worse.

But we know from all sorts of evidence and wisdom that people need people. We need someone to help us in our lowest moments, even if they are just sitting with us and having a cup of tea, talking about nothing in particular.

When I was at my lowest, I asked a few friends to check on me. Only a couple did, and they didn't keep up regularly. It was like I and my emotional pain were invisible to the world.

I found more connections with strangers here on this forum than from people I'd know for up to 10 years.

I think it's said that no-one has more than a handful of friends, at most, one or two at any one time. From what you say, it sounds as if you are trying too hard. They don't have to do anything to gain your friendship because you are doing all the work and they don't value that. You know who our best friends really are? Animals and books and if you are lucky, one or two humans. If I were you, and I look back now as an old lady, I would take some time away from the people you call your friends. Go out and make new friends in a different place from where your old friends are. Get yourself in a place where you don't need them so much and just see what happens - don't second guess that one. Just try it out. You could have much to gain.😊
