I understand. I’m almost 65 and have been taking psychotropic meds since 1997. I work 7 days a week. And though I am exhausted at times from such a challenging schedule, I am able to function in my every day life.

I was on Fluoxetine for a few good years, then when I got married I found it had sexual side effects. I was not sexually active before that.

I was off and on amitrypline for a little bit. It didn't seem to do a whole lot. That was maybe a year.

I have been on venlafaxine for a year, but I had also done testosterone replacement therapy at the same time. The TRT made me hot all of the time and I was getting too big for my clothes so I stopped that. Now I think I feel the venlafaxine more so I am thinking about going down on my dosage. I have accepted that I will most likely stay on something until my kids are older to make sure I can be pretty stable until they are more independent.

do you ever feel anxious thinking that you have to take medication for the rest of your life for managing your condition?

Over 30 years, and will be until I die :) I've accepted that it's a necessity and helps me live a full life

Different. Zoloft, then it quit working. Effexor, Wellbutrin, Pristiq. Back on Wellbutrin and feeling pretty good.

Can I ask how u transferred from 1 medication to another……did u have bad side effects changing over, & how did overcome them.

most transitions were easy-started taking new while still on old-tapered off old. Do NOT quit cold turkey-it doesn't work. Always follow Dr's directions.

I just hate the thought of the transition from old med to a new one, but will have to do something as I can’t go on feeling this bad any longer. I would never consider cold turkey as I would b too afraid of consequences.

The acceptance part is what make me feel horribly anxious. I am afraid to take these meds for life. Any suggestion
