Covid...back with a vengeance

For about 8 days i have felt wretched and just thought it was a cold or flu, but when it affected my speech so bad I thought it was something more.

I happened to still have a lateral flow test kit and did a test, and sure enough 2 heavy red lines showed.

I have to say though ,this new strain of Covid is lethal, for i have never felt so unwell, i ache all over, sweating streams, no appetite and worst of all i cannot speak, the pain in my throat is atrocious and my doctor has said i must isolate for 10 days.

Please take care of yourselves because I believe this virus is here to stay.

Thanks for the latest on this horrible disease. The government had to have known that this disease wasn't through with us yet. I just hope that we all take this seriously. Please take good care of yourself and feel better soon.

Covid won’t go away, it’s like flu, another variant around the corner, keep safe , hope you feel better soon.

I've got a bunch of coworkers with covid right now. It's been circulating and increasing over the last 8 weeks.

A 🦠 virus will do what a 🦠 virus will do.... they are opportunistic buggers with the only intention to constantly evolve into new more resistant strains.

As long as there are hosts to invade, the cycle goes on. Immunity wanes. New variants churn out and reach formerly infected and recovered patients. If it's different enough than the strain that you were infected with, the antibodies your immune system produced won't matter and consequently you will be re-infected with a new updated, and potentially stronger, COVID variant.

Hopefully the vaccines we receive this fall will give us the immune support that knocks it out of our system before it becomes lethal. The vaccine (kinda) ensures we don't end up hospitalized with dire life threatening symptoms...but it's not a guarantee that even if you're totally healthy that you couldn't end up hospitalized even when vaccinated.

The vaccines will never PREVENT us from getting infected when exposed, like they had hoped for at the beginning of the pandemic, but they definitely reduce the severity of the disease outcome within our bodies if we remain up to date on our boosters... especially if anyone has underlying health complications.

COVID will never be flu and flu will never be COVID... that's why you need 2 vaccines.

Hi S22.

Here ( England ) the vaccination program has been bought forward to what is flu jab season & as each new varient appears I can see if any new vaccination is needed the it is given during flu season as its the one time of the year that those most vulnerable get flu jabs & of course the Covid jab too.

The fact that Covid is around I hardly go out as I'm scared of catching it & ending up in hospital as I'm likely to get ant other viruses floating about.

I'm just waiting for my doctors surgery to let me know when I can go & have my flu jab.

Great post by the way & a very timely reminder.

Hi secrets. Very sorry to read about your getting Covid, this new strain sounds horrible and I hope you will soon be feeling better. Thanks for alerting us about this.
