I have had depression for many years, mainly circumstantial, goes hand in hand with my CPTSD. I'm lucky in that I haven't had any anxiety really, my issues are very low/ no energy, no motivation,no executive function. Yet have been prescribed sertraline, which is more for helping with anxiety? The duloxetine I doubt has been effective for a long time. Has anyone else with this kind of depression but not anxiety, felt better on sertraline please?

Hope ok to ask if others have changed from duloxetine to sertraline ?
Hey there! I was on Duloxetine for years before I switched to Sertraline. You can probably find some of my posts about it. I changed because, after years of taking Duloxetine, I was having physical side effects (numbness) and it was no longer working for me. I changed to Sertraline, tried many different dosages for a few months and it KINDA helped... but not really. In fact, it took away some of my anxiety but NOT my depression- it magnified it. I am on Wellbutrin now and it seems to be working great.
When I first started Sertraline it stopped my anxiety pretty quickly (within a week), but it wore off and with each dosage it helped more, but the side effects were way too much for me.
We are all different, but that is just my story. The Wellbutrin helps me to focus more throughout the day- I can work on things for hours and not have the bad thoughts and the anxiety. BUT, when I miss a dosage, or if I take the next dosage way later than normal- I start to get depressed and panicky.
Hello, I am going the other way. Sertraline to Duloxetine. Wellbutrin did not work for me at all but I know it's very helpful for a lot of people. I have the same issues with depression but not anxiety and the CPTSD. Sertraline helped me a great deal until recently. And I mean a great deal for 20+ years. Doc says all these things have life spans and I have hit mine with Sertraline. The unmotivated, low energy, etc. sounds very familiar to me and is what I'm going through now. These med changes seem to really take a toll. I've seen a lot of good posts here that are helpful. I'm glad you reached out.
Hi, thank you , sorry to hear you suffer similarly. In my case, a lot of my severe depression was / is related to several severe physical health conditions, and I made a final concerted effort to self medicate these after 20 plus years of getting nowhere holistically with the NHS ( they are brilliant with acute medicine, saved my life from cancer twice, but we all know symptoms are never joined up, unfortunately), and have made great improvements physically so the horrific severe depression has lifted a lot, so don't know if changing from duloxetine to sertraline played any part . Really hope you improve, Kind Regards Leah
