Thinking about quitting Lexapro (escitalopram)

I started taking Lexapro about 3 years ago. I realized that the underlying issue of my anxiety was in fact adhd. I started my treatment with Straterra about a month and a half ago and it had done miracles! I can focused better and I feel less forgetful and it allows me to finish more tasks without taking so many breaks. Now, alongside Straterra I've been taking Lexapro which makes me feel kinda odd when taking together in the morning ( I used to take it at night). I feel like Lexapro is now defeating the purpose of Straterra so I'm now debating between continue to take Lexapro or just stop completely. Lexapro makes me feel slower and sleepy and it even makes me feel forgetful because of how sleepy I feel.

it`s very difficult to just quit it`s best to reduce over a period of time before quitting but always consult with the doc.

Please consult with your doctor before making any changes to your medication. Stopping any medication cold turkey can have really bad side effects and/or consequences.

I would absolutely discuss this with your doctor, and if he agrees, ask him for a slow wean down plan. Good luck!

Please don't stop Lexapro completely.

Please work with your doc on how to safely taper off from Lexapro.

Since lexapro makes you sleepy maybe you should go back to taking it at night and then your other medication in the morning. Just an idea!

it would be best to discuss it with your med prescriber first and do a slow taper off of it if you do, to give your mind and body time to adjust. slower is better.
