does anyone else here get really anxious when they are getting ready for work and if so do you have any tips to help calm down . I bartend and I always get very anxious before I go In once I’m there working I’m usually ok . My therapist suggested that I take anxiety medication preemptively. So I do but it doesn’t always help like my heart rate and o2 is fine but I still feel like im having a hard time breathing it’s all mental . I really hate it . I wonder if I should just try to mentally lean into it and and look on the bright side like “so what if I die atleast I won’t have to work “ maybe idk just spitballing a possible solution .

pre work anxiety
Hi Kboogie, it's true if we die then we don't have to work lol
However, why not put a positive thought in your mind knowing
that when you get to work, you do pretty good. It's a good feeling
to be productive, to meet people. It takes your mind off yourself.
Try getting into Meditation each morning when waking up.
Spending those few moments breathing and calming your mind
and body can prepare you better for the work day and what lies
ahead. Doing this on a daily basis as well as before sleep can
retrain your mind to be in a more calming state. Breathe xx
thanks agora for responding🤗 it’s helps not feeling alone . I still struggle with meditation when I focus on my breathing its like I focus too much then all I can think of is my breathing and all that thinking about breathing causes me to hyperventilate sometimes. I think I’m doing it wrong .
Hi Kboogie, it takes practice and consistency.
There are many great short videos on YouTube that
go through the quiet and calming moment of deep breathing.
Eventually, you will feel the results instantly. You will be able
to ward off those butterfly feelings in your stomach. You will be
able to calm your heart and mind.
Anything worth while takes time but so worth the benefits.
Let me know if I can help you with some suggestions on YouTube.
Hi, sorry you’re going through that. I’ve been there and had to take medications around the clock for a while, and even take meds before work as well.
Some things to do in addition: breathing exercises, calming music, some at-home self-hypnotism, or perhaps words of affirmation.
Reach out anytime if you need someone to talk to!
