Everything is money and how do you get money? Especially when you can't work because you're mentally disabled? Apply for some job. The boss shows you a presentation with houses, cars and the Eiffel tower and how you can buy all this but guess what they's a catch. You need to find 5 more catfishes like you. Catfishing at its finest.Brokers came to my university presenting on bussiness. Those women are sharks. Just like my broker. People with no education make hundreds out of selling...forcing you to buy. Some guy wanted an appartment in the city, she sold him a house in the outskirts. And she was so proud of herself. Bussinessmen and bussinesswomen drink blood. Sell you a keychain and get commission for it. That's what one of the broker ladies said "i can sell you a 10$ keychain for 7$ but you pay me commission 5$". So basically the 10$ keychain i don't need is sold to me for 12$ and i was manipulated to buy it. And they call it psychology. Psychology is realising how screwed you are, this is manipulation. "But aren't you a psychology student, use that". Yes but i also have social anxiety, no friends and mental issues. But i can't tell you this because you won't hire me. And apparently i live in a world that sucks your blood. A world where you have to pay to be alive even when you don't want to be alive. I can't adult. I don't understand these scams. And I don't understand even when "you're a psychology student". And I can't do my part of the work i promised my only friend whom is my last hope to ask to be one of those people i need to join my team.

AtC,
What a demoralizing presentation! How awful. Please don’t give up. There are better, more ethical ways, to use your degree, even in marketing. Do some research into businesses that adhere to strong values that align with yours. Ask if you can do some informational phone interviews with people who work at those companies. I think if you find that there are positions out there which do not involve taking unfair advantage of people, you’ll feel better about your job prospects.
You CAN function as an adult. You’ve been doing it: going to classes, managing a tight budget, finding ways to claw through the depression and fear and excel in school. It won’t be easy and a job won’t magically fall into your lap, but I believe in you!
Those first steps transitioning from university to a career can be scary but that’s part of growth. You can do it!
I tried working in marketing and advertising for commercial brands after university and did not feel good about it. I realized I needed to feel morally and ethically aligned with my job and industry; ideally contributing something positive to the world. At the very least I needed to feel like it was neutral.
It lead to me working for a university in marketing and communications for years and felt good about it. But I realized I wanted to feel like I was making a more positive contribution. I was motivated to earn my teaching masters degree, which was an employee benefit, from the same university. It’s been over 10 years and though it can be challenging at times I feel great about helping others. By my own judgement I am contributing to making the world better and that gets me motivated each day.
I suggest you find a job you feel matches your strengths and makes a positive impression on you. Do you want to help other people with mental health struggles, animal rights, environmental causes, inequality etc etc? Look at those companies or non profits
The world can be a cruel place Against, Im glad you don't want to be a part of the cruelty you see. Youre better than that. It would be good if everyone looked out for one another and didn't try to get by at other people's expense. You have a kindness to you.
I know. It takes strength to be kind in this cruel world. Im sorry to hear you are struggling alot now.
