Wondering if i should try CBD. Im hopeless

Against_the_current profile image

Im hopeless. Living in a room like a prison cell, always broke, traumatized, parents are toxic, health system is not giving a damn, social system is not giving a damn. East Europe is a damned from god place where the rent is more than your slavery, everyone is drunk and there's this terrible chalga coming from outside. Im even considering what my broker advised me too - su1cide (wish this was a joke). So im on sertline, Clonasepam, Levosulpiride and pregabalin, can i do cbd? But it's expensive too and worried if i become addicted

If the broker suggested you commit suicide, report that person immediately! No one should ever make such a suggestion to someone else. That makes me sick. I am so sorry.

I don't know about CBD, especially in combination with your other medications. Please get medical advice on that idea. It might be just what you need, but I have no idea how it would interact with your other medications. But I think it's great that you're. open to trying it.

Yeah, thank you. You're right. And you're right about my broker but nobody would care and i have nobody to report this to

By the way, what's "chalga"?

A terrific type of music in the Balkans. My mom used to ground me with no tv and switch my cartoons channel to the chalga channel. And especially at big social gatherings when people get drunk and profane, they play it. It's like mixed balkan music with Turkish/arabic/gypsy music left from the times of the Turkish slavery. Idk why Bulgarians love it when it's a token of slavery and to me it's a token to my abuse from my mother

During the conquest, Bulgarians, Byzantines, Serbs and so were considered "raya" aka not important, slaves, second class people because they're christians. Alongside the turks, there came wild tribes from all over the way from Asia to Europe and because these tribes had the ottoman type of islam, they were considered superior to the raya (slaves, white slaves). So they brought their customes and music and it was considered superior than the local customs and music

Wow: this was fascinating! I just listened to some bits of chalga on YouTube to get a sense of what it sounds like. It reminded me of some of the Klezmer/Yiddish music of my people, so it was kind of familiar. But I don't have the harmful associations — personal and historical– with it that you have. I can understand how those rhythms and tones could become grating very quickly, especially to a kid who just wanted to watch something fun on TV to relax.

You know so much about such a range of topics and you explained this beautifully. "Raya" was a completely new term to me. You write "Idk why Bulgarians love it when it's a token of slavery" — that's a great question and would be an intriguing topic to explore, especially because issues of personal psychology and cultural-historical impulses converge. If you consider looking into journalism, you could write a short essay on this question to show off your writing and thinking skills.

I love it when you explain more about Bulgaria, as you've done a few times here. Thank you so much!

Thank you too. I'm starting to think i really should get into journalism but i don't see newspapers or magazines hiring. I also need to report the situation with my internship funds missing but am afraid to alarm a media because that might sabotage my final exam

You might have to take some classes (maybe on line?) to get some experience and training, but I just checked LinkedIn for journalism and related jobs, both remote and in-office, and there are pages and pages of them. When yo have finished your exam and are all graduated, consider setting up some informational interviews with people in jobs that interest you to find out how to get into those jobs. If you can't find anyone in your city, you can make connections through LinkedIn. There are American companies that would be interested in getting the point of view of someone from another country.

Once you're finished with school, we can brainstorm some more. You might have to take some silly interim job while you figure out your next move. For now, try to focus on that exam!
