Are you working with a Therapist? Maybe he or she can give you some tips. I have social anxiety myself and try not to put myself into situations which will trigger me.
Do what your comfortable with and get some noise-cancelling headphones and play calming music while navigating the hallways. Avoid large crowds when you can.
I would find a place like near a window so you feel the air about you even sit near an exit if the crowd gets too much but as faux suggested ear plugs will help as well.
Now I am not suggesting you should not do something to challenge yourself. However - I would ask if attending the ceremony is worth it for you. You still "graduate" - whether or not you walk. You can even do some things - get a cap and gown, take some photos on campus, or find some other ways to mark the occasion.
I mean, ideally, we should all be able to do something like that, but if you can't - you really should ask yourself if the ceremony itself is important to you. If it is - as others have said, reach out to your therapist and start getting ready. Come up with an "escape plan" if things get to be too much for you, and don't feel bad if you have to use it.
I’ve thought about not going but my family would be sad. I will definitely make an escape plan
Thank you!
