Another day another panic attack 😭

I picked up my new prescriptions today, came home, told my husband the doctor said it was optional...go pick them up, but if I thought I could make it through it, then I didn't have to take them. I have been doing pretty good since I last posted in here, so I planned to put the meds up "just in case".Backstory: a close friend of mine had a major heart attack Thursday. She had surgery and is doing well, but ya know, health anxiety.

So as I am in the middle of cooking dinner, SURPRISE!! PANIC ATTACK 😭 I just had a full physical 2 weeks ago. On paper, I'm doing pretty good, but my brain doesn't agree.

Full on panic: lump in the throat, racing heart beat, feeling completely defeated, the whole nine yards. I would just love to know WHY this happens. I have been a very easy-going gal my whole life, why does this happen to me??

Needless to say, I cracked open my 2 new prescriptions and started them immediately. (I know they don't work immediately, but it helps my brain cope)

Hi Rosemarie82 im glad your friend survived her heart attack !I know how you feel about having panic attacks I hope your new meds work soon it's amazing how many people suffer from health anxiety but in time you will learn to cope ! Have you thought about trying self hypnosis if you go to YouTube you will find some there all the best !

I have battled this for 4 years. I had weaned off all medications except for blood pressure meds nearly a year ago. Then in July, the losses started coming, and didn't let up for 7 months. 6 funerals, and it really sent me spiraling. I tried to tough it out, but decided I needed help 2 weeks ago. My doctor did a full blood panel, but didn't want to prescribed anything until she saw my results (she is new, but she is amazing)...so over that time, I managed to calm down some, and seeing my blood results eased my mind. But you know anxiety...at any given moment it can hop in and say hello! My heart rate is still hanging around 90-100, which isn't that bad compared to what other people face, but it makes my anxiety that much worse.

And I will look into that! Thanks. :-)

hi so sorry thats arful to be honest i dont trust the meds after my experiences sebding a hug πŸ€—πŸŒŸ

It can be so annoying and feel like a defeat everytime i know, most of the time you probably handle it better than we give ourselves credit for. If the meds are reassuring thats a good thing right now

My heart rate has been elevated ever since I posted this. I'm trying hard not to let it get the best of me. I hate this!! I would not wish this on anyone.

I'm glad to hear your friend is doing well. But health anxiety....I know the feeling. I started having panic attacks about 5-6 years ago I think. I finally got rid of them but in the year or two it took me to do that I picked up other problems - health anxiety, food anxiety, other things to be anxious about for no reason. I'm pretty good at telling myself to stop being stupid and there's nothing wrong with my food, or whatever it is I'm getting anxious about. The health anxiety - not so easy. I'm 75 so anything could go wrong. 5 years ago I had Takotsubo Syndrome so I see how things can happen in a split second, one minute you're fine, the next you think you're dying. It only made my health anxiety worse. I hope your new meds help.

Thank you. I have started celexa and buspirone (just today). I have taken both before in the past, but never together.I know it will take time for them to work, but sometimes just knowing I will get back to normal in that time eases my anxiety a little.

I can handle the anxiety, but full on panic attacks wreck me. My hr has been around 100 and up top 160 nearly all day. Now that I have turned the lights out, had a nice chat with my aunt/nurse/psychiatrist I feel a lot better, even with my hr still lingering in the 90s.

I just have to defeat this like I did before, one day at a time!

yw! :) I agree, just taking something can ease your mind. Anything to ease that anxiety is good. It's nice you have your aunt to talk to. Other than a niece and her husband who don't really care I'm totally alone here. Glad to hear you're feeling better. I hope it continues. :)

Awww be kind to yourself my darling as your mind and body obviously require your meds. Just try to relax as best you can and let your meds start to work to help alleviate your symptoms. Wishing you good luck. Sending hugs and love πŸ™πŸ»πŸ€β€οΈπŸ˜˜xx

Hang in there luv. It’s a monster I tell you. No one deserves it. The fight or flight or fear let alone the physical symptoms. Just take deep breaths. Try doing sets of three inhale deep through your nose exhale through your nose and slow. Think this shall pass as you do it. Check out the late Dr Claire weekes book Hope and Help for your nerves. Very inspirational and motivating. Prayers up to you. πŸ™πŸ»
