Can't believe it. Also in Bulgaria it's a traditional holiday where we put on traditional red and white threads like these. The red symbolises health and white purity. 3rd of march is Bulgaria's Independence Day. And 8th is Women's day. Do you have any interesting holidays?
Today's the first of march: Can't... - Anxiety and Depre...
Today's the first of march
today in Wales it`s ST David`s day we have ST Andrews day England have ST Georges day we also have burns night famous all around the world with America being it`s biggest outside Scotland.
Interesting. Do you have namedays? Like if someone is named after the saint like David, they have a nameday.
It is mostly a Catholic custom in the UK. But I haven't heard of anyone celebrating it in recent times; we do, of course, celebrate birthdays. Since mine falls on Christmas Eve, which is really hopeless for celebrating the day I was born, I am getting used to the idea of celebrating the day I was expected instead, which is 6th January - I know - that's Christmas too in some parts of the world.
I had to look it up for the U.S. and apparently today is
National Peanut Butter Day~ xx
Ah yes! That is a huge one!(Never heard of it....)
What do you do to celebrate these holidays?
Gift (or buy ourselves like i did) these red and white accessories called martenici (marthens)
What about for Independence Day? Are there fun celebrations for that?
Actually celebrations here be like funerals. Our independence is from Turkey which enslaved us for 5 centuries, kinda like the conquest in Spain but worse because it brought out natural development backwards. The rest of Europe was discovering the new world, science, industry while we were stuck in a fanatic foreign relighious slavery. And independence be like "historical figures died 200 years ago for liberation"
Hi, I was born in Romania. We have the same first March with red a d white ribbon. The gentlemans are offering this to ladies, wife's, girlfriends, moms , etc..
March 8 is Mother's Day
Happy Indepe dance Day !
Stay healthy!
I felt that. Here we have earthquakes south and wars north
Sounds really cool. I think we in South Europe have a lot of common traditions, maybe because of the Roman empire. Like a lot the old roman gods' days were turned into Saints' days after baptising the empire and some of the old rituals were kept so the transition would go smooth without the citizens rioting. Even Christmas isn't in December but is celebrated then because of the old Roman winter solstice celebrations and the Calendi. Basically the day starts growing therefore the sun is born therefore The Saviour is born. And St. George's day. Here we say he had a brother Dimitrius who is basically the Christian variant of the greek goddess Demetris
Oh St Patrick. He's famous even here 🍀
It's been wild since 2020. Parents divorced, pandemic, online university, dad had a baby, mom drinking, wars near our south border, wars near our north border, earthquakes near our south border, earthquakes near our north border, phynansical crisis, getting kicked out of my accommodation and living in a worse place for triple the price, graduating and not knowing what to do with my psychology degree when im too traumatized to work as a therapist
Tbh we don't even put Christmas decorations anymore
Yeah it is. And now i have to graduate and choose master's 🤯
