Hi all if anyone has advice i wkuld really appreciate it.So my problem is a liitle interesting. Basically in sad situations where i do not want to smile and worry about smiling i end up smiling a little. It isnt something i can control. The smile is very slight but noticeable. I do tutoring and recently it started coming up. Whenever the parents look stressed or talk about something sad that happened i smile (im not smiling because im happy. Its a tic that happens when i worry about smiling in inappropriate situations) then the parents look at me smiling. I dont know what to tell them so i just ignore their looks at me when i smile. What should i do? Also i dont have a close relationship with the parents to explain why i "smile"

Would appreciate any advice!

Hi Rose, I just happen to come upon your post this evening.

I've known people who laugh inappropriately and can't help it

because their nerviness makes it happen.

The same with you smiling when you aren't happy. ( a tic per se)

Think of your smile as a caring, nourishing form of expression.

You smile because you care, you understand and support.

Using some words along with your smile could help convey your

concern and emotions. :) xx
